Effective June, 2023
We are happy to be running programs safely and responsibly. We have been working with industry professionals and health experts to determine how to best run outdoor education and adventure programs during the COVID-19 crisis. We have carefully reviewed all guidance from the CDC, Washington State Department of Health, Kitsap Public Health District, and the American Camp Association in developing our safety and logistics for programs.
Logistics & Masks
- Participants are welcome to wear a face mask at any time.
- People coming to drop-off and pick-up are welcome to wear a mask and maintain physical distance from other participants.
- We will ensure there is enough individual supplies to minimize sharing if participants prefer.
- Participants will be encouraged to use hand sanitizer and guides will regularly remind participants of when and how to wash their hands effectively.
- If a participant identifies as higher risk for complications related to COVID-19, we recommend you consult a medical care provider to assess their risk and determine if attendance is acceptable.
Daily Screening
- Upon arrival each day, we will inquire if each participant has any COVID-19 symptoms, any contact with persons suspected or confirmed of having COVID-19, and conduct temperature checks. We may ask participants to preform a rapid COVID-19 test if applicable.
Participant Covid-19 Vaccination Policy
Wild Society encourages all participants attending overnight programs to receive any of the COVID-19 vaccines currently available. Vaccines aid in the safety and health of our employees, participants and communities.
- If a participants test positive for COVID-19 or has been in close contact with a person testing positive for COVID-19, we ask that you please notify us immediately.
- Participants will be allowed to attend overnight programs after receiving a positive test if they have completed 5 full days of isolation, are asymptomatic or their symptoms are improving, have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine, and have a negative COVID-19 test.
Staff Covid-19 Vaccination Policy
Effective June 1, 2021, Wild Society requires all to staff receive a COVID-19 vaccine and to provide proof of inoculation. This policy applies to year-round staff and seasonal guides. Prior to leading any programs, staff must receive the vaccine (all required doses) to aid in the safety and health of our employees, clients and students. Staff who qualify for a medical or religious exemption must complete a waiver, available upon request.
- All program staff have been practicing the related health and safety guidelines as we have progressed through the phases of the Washington State reopening plan.
- All guides have received training in their roles and responsibilities as they relate to COVID-19 precautions.
- If a staff member has symptoms of COVID-19 they will be asked to stay home and get a test. They will be invited back when they receive a negative test result.
- If a staff member tests positive for COVID-19 they will be asked to stay home and quarantine. If they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are improving, they will be invited back after 5 full days of isolation and a negative COVID-19 test.
